On my Grind

I am happy to announce that I am on my grind again. The spirit hit me today and I started working on a project today. Yeah me!

I noticed yesterday that KDP (KINDLE DIRECT PUBLISHING) has added “hardcover” for books. So, today I dived right in and added a hardcover to an existing book that I published last year. Matter of fact, it’s my latest gem, the last one I done, “Tripp N’Out”.

All I can say is…I love what I do! This is fun!

Creating books for you to dive into is simply Devine!

About to Jump into June

flowers-2658867_640

Hey everyone, it’s another wet and dreary day over here, the clouds just don’t want to disappear it seems. So I sit here trying to find something to do on a rainy day. And then the lightbulb went off in my head…..hey, why don’t you update your blog, so here I am trying to put a little cheer into the day. I think the image is perfect since it is colorful and gayish….are you smiling yet?

On days like this, when you can’t find nothing worth watching on TV, It is time to settle down with a good book to past the time away, or work on creating a new one since I am an author/publisher. But you know what, the writing bug that usually visits me by now must still be on vacation because it has been a long time since I’ve sat at this computer doing anything with my writing. Shame on me. The spark seems to be gone. Hopefully, it will come back soon. They say, if you don’t use it, you will lose it….God forbid that ever happening to me. Come on inspiration, make me work!

Meantime, thank goodness for what has inspired me in the past with published book titles galore, books for the entire family to read. Yeah, I like reaching the young and the old and those in between too.  Have you looked at these titles? Have you read any of the books that I created and produced? Just so that you know…I do love being independent and doing my own thing, especially when I am inspired to do so. It’s a Nona kind of thing.

The End of February

Hi everybody. Well, it looks like the month of February is coming to a close, being that today is the 28th. However, in the shortest month of the year, I did create a book and it’s published. Actually, I created two books for youngsters…back to back. So I do feel accomplished for the shortest month of the year.

I have no problem saying goodbye to the winter months for my favorite times of the year are coming up. I welcome the sunshine and heat and seeing greenery again. I noticed today that the tulips are coming up, which is a sure sign that spring is around the corner. Speaking of Spring, here’s a title for youngers that deals with this time of year. It’s an oldie but goodie…remember this one? spring where are you cover This is a book about a young girl who goes looking for spring after she hears everyone in her household repeat that it is right around the corner and they are preparing for it. Where is it? What does it look like? Which direction is it coming? These are just some of the questions that Gracie wants to find out. This is a short story that will make reading fun and imaginative and Gracie sure does have an imagination that will keep readers turning the page. Pick up your copy at Amazon.

OH my goodness, I think we might need a book to read for February as we say goodbye to it. Let’s see what we have… Oh yes, here’s one that will spark the imagination in young readers.  It's a Doggone Shame print book cover

New Book Onboard!

Guess what just happened, NSP just released a new children’s book and it went live on Amazon! I have been working on this book for a little while and finally got it together, showing that I love what I do! I get it done even when I get distracted. Sometimes, as an author/publisher, it seems that the devil is always around trying to make me lose my focus and interrupt my train of thought. But, like always…I just blast that sucker out of my space! You have to do that sometimes when you are trying to get something accomplished. Well, to make a long story short…I did it, or rather NSP “Nona’s Sugarberry Pages” did it! Here, I can show you better than I can tell you.

What is this book about you may be asking yourself? This book deals with bullying, having a substitute teacher, taking responsibility and having a talking parrot for a pet, which means…you better watch what you say.

I hope you add this book to your child’s library of good reading because it is worth it!

Woo Hoo! Back in the Saddle Again!

colorful cartoon horseHey, hey, hey everyone. Guess what…..I’m back and getting a head start into my creative writing spirit. Time is up, summer vacation is over and time is on my side! Which means…..More Time to Focus and Write!  I am gearing up and rearing to go! I am back in the saddle again; after all, here I am blogging, haven’t done that for a while. Yep, I know….shame on me! So slap me with a wet noodle if you must.

It feels quite good sitting behind my desk again with things to do that pertain to what I love to do. Yes indeed, I am doing me!

I tell you, ever since I received my iPhone for Mother’s Day, being on this computer just took a backseat because I got into the habit of doing everything on my phone. But one thing for sure, I haven’t mastered writing long content, or manuscript writing on my phone, not with the one finger typing that I do on it, even though I do leave short messages on Facebook and Twitter. I was getting quite relaxed in promoting myself and my books by way of my phone. But it is much faster using my desktop. I wonder how in the world people text so fast and using both of their hands to do it, fingers and thumbs flying across the little keyboard. When it comes to texting, I have wicky-wacky fingers I guess. But oh well, I love my phone and all the things I can do with it and what I am learning to do with it. Yep, I’ve been upgraded. I even do the Snapchat thing now. Say what? Hey, I am cool like that.

This morning, I even decided that I was going to get started back into my freelance writing and editing again, yes I used to do that and I enjoyed it a lot. So, today, I scoped out the internet finding possibilities. There are quite a few opportunities out there waiting to be snatched up and I jotted down about 6 websites to look further into.  So, that is what is on the agenda today, wish me luck in this adventure. I will keep you posted on how it goes. However, I do have a good positive feeling about it. Hey, like I said before…..I am doing me!

Well, enough of that because this blog is getting longer and longer, so guess what I am about to do…… Promote some of my books because I don’t want you to forget about them.   Check them out @Amazon.com

Inspiration that Moved Me

About a week ago, I guess it was. I was sitting at my computer desk like I always do, reading messages, sending emails, visiting Facebook and Twitter and of course blogging when I wasn’t working. What am I talking about, “wasn’t working?” I am always working because inspiration flows freely and when it flows, it just consumes me, especially as an author.

The idea that inspired my last week came from my writer/ publisher mentor, Catherine Burr. As an author, I try to follow in her footsteps because she is such a trustworthy guide.

The thing that struck me and got me moving and stirring around over here was the subject of new book covers, creating them and then revealing them. Catherine Burr’s new book series covers inspired me to do something about a few of my children’s book covers, which needed updating, refreshed and livened up a bit because they were looking drab to me. They didn’t reach out and grab you anymore like they did when they were first created a few years ago. They needed some punch, a come buy me, read me kind of hook up. So, I busied myself by transforming 3 book covers on Createspace and on Kindle Direct; after all, the books do have two versions, the print, and the e-book singles. When you do one, you must make sure you do the other so that they will match and look like a pair. I didn’t have to do anything to the interior of the books, just the covers. You would think that wouldn’t take very long to do, especially since the books are already written and published, you are just giving them a little update; zip zap and you are done…..well not true. After creating the new covers and being satisfied with what you created, all books have to go through another review process and then you have to approve and sign off on them…….and then wait for them to go live again. This is the point where I am now with the new cover versions, the waiting period. Trust me when I say, I am very anxious for this to be completed. The review process and the approval sign-off are done; And since I am so impatient and excited at the same time, perhaps I should do a cover reveal…..so  I will. Catherine told me about Canva, and with this site, I created this show and tell poster. See how I am inspired!
