Working from home…….

Oh, how sweet it is when you can sit at your computer desk and know that you have an article due date coming up all because you found yourself a client to work for and they are depending on you to get the work done; and then before you know it….ching, ching, you get paid for doing what you love……Writing!

Now that part of the scenario sounds easy peasy, cool beans as the youngsters would say. Well, slow your horse down partner, before you get all excited and rearing up to go because there’s a lot of preparation that goes into this do -your- on-thing- niche. You have to take it step by step to get started in this particular line of freelance writing. Don’t think that just because you write that you will get hired on just because you are a wordsmith or that you just have a way with words. I am not telling you not to have confidence in yourself, or not to believe in yourself. You know and believe that you can do the work, but guess what…..you are going to have to prove yourself to your client and perhaps to the company that you want to work for. In other words, you are going to have to produce a bio, resume’ and a couple of writing samples to prove your worth and show your talent when you become a freelancer too, just like any other job. So, have these items ready to release when you are looking for freelance online writing jobs.

The Availability of Work

Once you do a search for the type of writing that you are interested in, you will soon find out that doing a Google search will bring up a lot of possibilities to wade through because there are hundreds of listings to sort out. Make a list of some of the ones that catch your eye and then explore them and do a thorough review. Find out their guidelines for applying and all the ins and outs of what is expected of you as a writer if hired. When it comes to becoming a freelance writer, remember to always write what you know and if you don’t know it, do not be afraid to research the topic to find out. With that I say, live and learn and enjoy the world of freelance writing because the work is out there. Be patient, stay positive and let the work keep you productive once you get started.
